No Cost Memory Screening
What is a Memory Screening?
A memory screening is an assessment tool that helps determine if you are at risk for an age-related problem with memory or other thinking skills. The screening takes less than an hour and occurs in a private setting with just you and a screener. The memory screening consists of a series of questions and/or tasks designed to test your memory, thinking ability, language skills and other intellectual functions.
After the test, the screening administrator reviews the results with you and suggests whether you should follow up with more extensive testing and whether you qualify for a clinical trial. The results of your memory screening are confidential but we will provide a copy to your practitioner by request.
At The CRCNJ, we offer memory screenings at no cost to you.
Why Get a Memory Screening?
If you are aged 50 years or older, screening for memory or other cognitive impairment should be part of your yearly health regimen for a few important reasons, including:
- Determining if further clinical evaluation is necessary
- Enabling you and your physician to take a proactive approach to your brain health
- Taking the first step in educating yourself about brain health and memory
Clinical Trials and Experimental Treatments for Memory Loss
The knowledge gained from your memory screening allows you to take charge of your brain health, make or change lifestyle choices that may impact your memory and is also the first step in determining if you qualify for a clinical trial.
Clinical trials are research studies in which experimental treatments are tested. Taking part in a clinical trial can help uncover new therapies and contribute to finding a cure for Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders.
One of the best ways to determine whether you qualify for a clinical trial at The CRCNJ is to take part in a memory screening at no cost to you. After we perform a thorough evaluation and review of your no-cost memory screening, we can tell you if you may qualify for a trial. Additional screening procedures are required. Don’t wait! Contact The CRCNJ to determine if you are eligible for a no cost memory screening.
